Overview
In Phase I of the Integrated Product Data Environment
(IPDE) project, KBSI conducted a concept study for integrating
product data and providing easy access to this data across
a network for engineers whose tasks were reengineered for
the IPDE. In addition, KBSI identified the legacy data sources
and established requirements for COTS Computer-Aided Design
(CAD), Computer-Aided Manufacture (CAM), Computer-Aided Engineering
(CAE), Product Data Management (PDM), Computer-Aided Reverse
Engineering (CARE), and Computer-Aided Legacy Data Conversion
(CALDC) software for use in the IPDE. Once the requirements
were established, KBSI next defined a procedure for integrating
legacy databases and legacy data, a procedure for reengineering
processes for use with the IPDE, and developed a prototype
IPDE.
