As businesses continue to look for ways to stretch budgets and control costs, KBSI has continued developing innovative ways to address cost management issues, utilize best costing practices, and develop costing methodologies. Our technologies combine structured methodologies with the latest costing practices.

Research Areas

Methodology Development for TRANSCOM (CBASE III)
The CBASE III project developed a prototype toolset and supporting methodology for integrated, cost/benefit-driven functional process improvement of logistics support.

Pathfinder Accelerated Technology Application of Cost Knowledge (ATACK)
The goal of the ATACK project was to rapidly transition existing technologies in the service of capturing and applying domain knowledge of pricing, costs, and benefits to Air Logistic Center's Depot environments.
Cost Benefit Analysis Support Environment (CBASE)
CBASE developed and demonstrated a novel, integration-driven paradigm for the cost benefit analysis of Air Force systems that combined cost analysis techniques such as ABC with the IDEFØ function modeling and IDEF3 process modeling methods.
Air Flight Safety Life Enhancement System (AFSLES)
The AFSLES project provided capacity analyses and and developed a shop cost estimation tool for the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) to address anticipated increase in flight critical part workloads.
Job Cost Estimation System-Shot Peening (JCES)
The JCES project developed a software system for determining job costs based on selected shop activities, helping CCAD better anticipate the costs associated with working specific job batches and to optimize the daily workload flow.
Pathfinder
Pathfinder focused on the design and development of a comprehensive suite of technologies for life-cycle cost justification, cost/benefit analysis, integrated performance prediction, quantified trade-off analysis, and management decision-making for individual project selection, monitoring, and control.
