Information is critical to decision making. As companies become more data intensive they face a greater need for technologies that can rapidly analyze information and communicate that information across the enterprise. KBSI provides customized technologies in manufacturing systems analysis and design, Total Quality Management, and Business Process Analysis.

Research Areas

Information Fusion-based Indication and Warning Assessment and Recognition System (II-WARS)
IIWARS is a data mining and information fusion system that mines distributed text sources (news feeds, web databases, traffic reports, radio intercepts, human intelligence) to discover features or indicators of emerging threats.

Military Health Data Mining Algorithms Library (MHDML)
The MHDML project used a unique approach in developing data mining and analysis techniques, templates, and software tools for the DoD's vast medical health system (MHS). The results improve the DoD's medical support and medical readiness--an important component of military readiness.
Geo-Political Region of Interest Projection System (GRIPS)
The GRIPS project is developing a methodology and tool suite to help military planners consistently define, systematically evaluate, and globally share data concerning future geo-political contexts.
Multi-organization Planning and Scheduling (ATIP)
The ATIP project provides knowledge-based assistance to coalition planning by using ontology and rule-based technologies for plan formulation and plan conflict resolution.
Integrated Data Experimentation and Fusion System (IDEFS)
The IDEFS project developed innovative information processing technologies that, using learning systems like Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic, Expert Systems, and Genetic Algorithms, have advanced the state of the art in interactive, computerized data fusion.
Knowledge Discovery Wizard (KD Wizard)
The KD Wizard project focused on designing, developing, and validating an adaptive framework for knowledge discovery that provides mechanisms for generating knowledge-discovery applications from end-user specifications of decision objectives and sets of data sources.
Non-Destructive Inspection Data and Evidence Fusion Program (NDI)

The NDI project focused on the use of data fusion technology to improve the non-destructive corrosion inspections of KC-135s.
