KBSI's work in the maritime industry has included a focus on process analysis and improvement of the ship construction lifecycle, helping industry members understand and minimize scheduling impacts. KBSI's innovative sensor fusion research and technologies have also helped the shipping industry, by more closely monitoring shipboard leaks and corrosion, more effectively manage ship maintenance and repair.

Simulation-Based Workload Planning and Shipyard Scheduling (Workship)
Developed in conjunction with Bender Shipbuilding and Repair, WorkShip is a novel software tool kit for shipyard work planning and scheduling that provides, via simulation, schedule forecasting and quick and easy schedule updates.
Multi-sensor Fusion and Mitigation of Crevice Corrosion using Smart ICCP (CORMIT)
CORMIT is developing state-of-the-art software that performs multi-sensor fusion on crevice corrosion detection sensors, providing the capability to sense and mitigate crevice corrosion for seawater components like flanges, valves, and strainers.
NDI for Hull and Tank Corrosion Detection (SHIP)

The goal of the SHIP project was to develop condition-based maintenance procedures and models for detecting paint coating thickness on ship hulls, helping the Navy to increase the operational life of ship hulls and reduce ship life cycle maintenance costs.

SmartGasket
KBSI's SmartGasket technology uses innovative sensor configuration and fusion to detects leaks in a piping joints before they start to drip.
