Overview
The SPCES project focused on developing a methodology
of use and software architecture for performing Statistical
Process Control (SPC) within the machine shop. CCAD was concerned
with its capability to repetitively deliver quality parts
and material from its support shops. In response to this concern,
KBSI developed quality control methods to be applied to the
machine shop, procured commercially available SPC software
and performed necessary systems integration and training for
the shop.
The integrated SPC software monitors parts
dimensions and continually updates part data. Part dimension
data is automatically transmitted to the SPC software system
using Radio Frequency (RF) equipment installed at the shop-floor
machines and this data is instantly reflected in the automated
control charts. The software system also maintains minimum
and maximum acceptance levels and plots control points.
