The
CBASE softwares flexibility makes it appropriate for use in
legacy systems and as an open architecture to use commercial IDEF
tools, simulation packages, and activity based costing (ABC) technologies.
Integration-driven Cost Benefit Analysis Paradigm
The main goal of the Phase II initiative was to develop
and demonstrate a novel integration-driven paradigm for the cost
benefit analysis of C4 systems. The overall project strategy was
to integrate cost analysis techniques, such as ABC, with the Air
Force IDEFØ function modeling and IDEF3 process modeling
methods. The main product of this effort was a software systemthe
Cost Benefit Analysis Support Environment. The project also accomplished
several additional objectives.
|
Refined the CBASE requirements for application
within the DoD application site.
|
 |
Refined and completed the knowledge-based,
cost benefit analysis algorithms and heuristics.
|
 |
Developed the detailed design specifications
for CBASE.
|
 |
Built the demonstration version of CBASE.
|
 |
Inserted, tested, and validated
CBASE at the DoD application site. |
 |
Refined and hardened CBASE for commercial release.
|
We anticipate rapid technology transfer and commercialization
of the project results. CBASE will be a powerful enabling tool for
any organization that is engaged in CPI or BPR and will yield benefits
of lasting value for the government, industry, and scientific communities.
|
Government - the Phase II CBASE will
be tailored for use in DoD applications and, therefore, will
impact this community immediately.
|
 |
Industry - because of its immediate
CPI and BPR applications, CBASE will directly benefit industry
users.
|
 |
Scientific Community - CBASE advances
the state of the art in ABC design and analysis methods through
the design of novel algorithms for static and dynamic cost
analysis.
|
Potential CBASE application areas include 1) C4 Systems,
2) Logistics Systems, 3) Manufacturing Systems, 4) Service Systems,
5) Capital Budgeting, 6) Business Reengineering, 7) Project Management,
and 8) Strategic Planning.
