Systems Integration Technologies

Components are a part of most layers of a system's structure and they also help connect the various subsystems in that structure. The tendency, however, is to think of systems in terms of the products they deliver, and, in the case of system developers, may cause developers to overlook components and their important role in building and maintaining the product, in testware for evaluation, in documentation, in training, and in the development of other software applications that assist users in various aspects of administration, semantic searching, supply chain management, asset management, etc.

KBSI, in over two decades of providing solutions to many DoD agencies and commercial enterprises, has played a major role in integrating systems and system components: from the creation of the IDEF methodologies to the deployment of software applications that have resulted in lowered maintenance costs, improved decision making, and improved business performance.

Blood Reserve Availability Assessment, Tracking, and Management System (BRAMS™)

KBSI is developing a system that allows users to manually enter data via a Web-based system, and to apply data mining and analytics in detecting blood supply problems, analyzing system behavior, evaluating alternate solutions, and optimizing the blood supply chain.

Data Display Translation Framework (DDTF)

KBSI is developing an advanced component-based Data Display Markup Language (DDML), an XML-based neutral format also developed by KBSI, as the inter-lingua in translating the data display languages supported by different vendors.

Framework for Adaptive Modeling and Ontology-driven Simulation (FAMOS™)

KBSI is building a system for the development and execution of distributed military simulation applications. The FAMOS™ technology will reduce the time and effort needed for developing and deploying distributed simulation applications and will lay the groundwork for knowledge sharing, communication, and semantic integration among modeling and simulation applications.

Framework for Intelligent support of Smart Transducers (FIST™)

KBSI is building the framework to provide a plug-and-play capability for large-scale smart transducer deployments.  The FIST™ technology will revolutionize the way in which flight test and instrumentation engineers design, implement, test and manage sensor networks by exploiting the inherent benefits of the smart transducer technology.

Intelligent System for Abstraction & Integration of Instrumentation Hardware (ISAIIH)

KBSI is developing an XML-based language that acts as an intermediary between the Instrumentation Support Systems (ISS) and the many vendor-specific languages involved. This functionality will support the programming of instrumentation systems prior to testing and evaluation (T&E).

Ontology Driven Integration Framework (ODIF)

KBSI is designing and developing technology that will automate the sharing and integration of information among different organizations. The development of a common ontology for integrating diverse data sources, combined with knowledge extraction techniques and ontology analysis methods, will allow users to extract knowledge from distributed, unstructured text sources and share knowledge among large-scale project teams.

Adaptive Toolkit for Pattern Discovery (ATPD)

KBSI is combining new machine learning techniques with advanced rule based methods for automated data utilization pattern discovery. The ATPD technology will allow users to monitor information use, discover patterns in that use, and develop ontology models that reflect discovered relations and patterns.

Pathfinder

KBSI designed and developed a comprehensive suite of technologies for life-cycle cost justification, cost/benefit analysis, integrated performance prediction, quantified trade-off analysis, and management decision-making for individual project selection, monitoring, and control. Pathfinder addressed the need for life cycle costing in depot environments, where the operational benefits of acquiring and maintaining weapons systems must be continually balanced.
