Comprehensive Inventory Management

KBSI is a leading provider of inventory and supply chain management technologies and integrated solutions helping the government and industries model and analyze their facilities layout, stock movements, and resource supply chains to gain a better understanding of supply chain impacts on production.  With more reliable and timely order history and part inventory data, administrators can make more informed scheduling and pricing decisions, thus increasing productivity and lowering costs.  KBSI provides a comprehensive range of supply chain technologies and services that deliver efficient and cost saving results and also lay the foundation for ongoing incremental value in realizing their goals and potential.

KBSI also complements its proficiency in supply chain technologies with its effective implementation of data mining concepts to radically transform the impact on the supply chain resulting in an ongoing process of innovations and improvements.  Except for experts in data mining, it is the rare user who is able to bridge the chasm between applying data mining tools and discovering critical answers that dramatically impact organizational performance.  Those who cross the chasm are participants in a process referred to as knowledge discovery:  the process of uncovering useful knowledge from data.  KBSI has excelled in innovative knowledge discovery techniques and has proven applications in government and industry.  The development of the discipline and processes required for data collection and storage is an enormous step that now allows for incredible innovations through knowledge discovery.

KBSI has been a leader in MRO supply chain solutions.  KBSI’s Lean Value Chain (LVC) for Critical Part Procurement effort funded by the Air Force’s Wright Laboratory’s Manufacturing Technology Directorate and was supported by user communities at both Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center (OC-ALC) and Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD).  The result of this effort reduced by one-half the time required to identify and resolve critical part needs, thereby reducing the time end items spend during depot maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) in an awaiting parts (AWP) status.  KBSI’s Kit Content History Reporting (KCHR™, pronounced kicker) tool was designed to complement OC-ALC’s existing inter-shop inventory tracking capability with support for intra-shop production supportability assessment and inventory allocation decision-making.  KCHR™ provides visibility into parts supportability issue by tracking serviceable, routed and ordered parts for each kit.  It also tracks the current status of each kit on a real time basis. KCHR™ was considered a major tool for process streamlining initiatives within engine remanufacturing operations at OC-ALC and CCAD.

In its providing expertise to the healthcare industry, KBSI has developed a Blood Reserve Availability Assessment, Tracking, and Management System (BRAMS™) that not only provides visibility into excess inventories and shortages of blood supplies at a facility, but also provides the ability to forecast blood consumption and inventory requirements.  Blood managers are more aware of the blood requirements, and can proactively take the necessary steps to either increase the blood collection or to distribute the excess inventories and thus minimize expirations.

Commercialization of the BRAMS™ technology resulted in the BASIS® technology, a web-based application that enables the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to gather and analyze blood collection and usage information, from a select set of civilian Hospitals and Blood Centers, to aid in setting up policies and procedures to better manage the nation’s blood resources.  Using the BASIS® web-site, a representative sample of Hospitals and Blood Collection Centers from around the nation would submit summarized blood collection and blood demand information, on a daily-basis, to the DHHS to support national blood policy decisions.

Please contact KBSI about improving your specific supply chain inventory management needs. We will work with you to determine how your organization conducts business, and then apply our years of experience to help you select the solution that best satisfies your requirements in increasing productivity, improving inventory levels and reduce operating costs.

Blood Availability and Safety Information System (BASIS)

KBSI is designing and developing a Web-based application that enables the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to gather and analyze blood collection and usage information from civilian hospitals and blood centers. This information will aid DHHS in establishing policies and procedures for better blood resource management.

Post Deployment Software Maintenance (PDSM)

KBSI developed and refined a library of models for post deployment software maintenance (PDSM) workload estimation and a comprehensive methodology for PDSM concept analysis:  i.e., how to think about the support of software-intensive systems, and how to formulate and analyze tradeoffs in the design space.

Sustainment Technologies for Aircraft Depot Maintenance (S-Physics)

KBSI developed a roadmap for depot information integration and situation based planning, scheduling, and control system support. KBSI used a scientific approach, studying the MRO environment and its fundamental nature, the underlying physics of MRO operations and processes (planning, scheduling, execution, control) and the processes that perform the repair.
